One sweet rocket

I love building V2s. This kit is extremely well made. The instructions cover every detail. I built this with a J350 engine in mind so there is a LOT of ballast in the nose. That made the rocket come in at just over six pounds without the chute or motor. I used the Slimline 54mm retainer and their 54 to 38 adapter. I have plenty of room for the chute. Follow instructions on setting the CG for the largest planned motor and this is super stable. Caught a wind gust about a hundred feet up on the first flight but steadied right up.
I painted it plain glossy white, it looks so awesome in flight on a sunny day! -
A durable and eye catching rocket

I purchased the rocket because I liked the lines of the V2. I didn't think too much about the short length, and because where I fly is often windy, and a small field for a larger rocket, I added a lot of ballast for good stability- more than 8 oz in the nose.
It flies nicely to nearly 2000 feet on a CTI Smoky Sam I motor at ~500 N-s impulse in a 38mm adapter and sub 500 feet on a fast burning 225 N-s H (CTI V-max) with minimal delay. I think with the ballast, 180 N of thrust is a minimum for a stable takeoff if there is any wind.
Even painted plain white, the rocket has gotten many compliments at the field in the first two outings.
The short body means that there is not a lot of room for a 44" SkyAngleII chute. It fits, but I think fitting any electronics would be a squeeze.
A mishap with a G motor tested the durability, but despite augering in from ~120 feet, the rocket held together nicely, the only damage being paint.
