Beware of this one detail!!

Here's a tip for anyone building these small fiberglass kits. It happened to me three times, on the Mouse38, the Rapton and the Pirhana. If you use the AeroPack motor retainer, be very careful to make sure it's on there straight. There are some very fine ridges inside the glued on part and it's really easy to end up with this part glued on crooked. I did it on three different rockets and didn't even notice it until after they were flown. The Rapton wasn't too bad, but the little Mouse zig-zagged all the way up. The motor tubes were perfectly square, the retainers were just on wrong. Take some sandpaper and slightly chamfer the end of the tube so it doesn't catch on those ridges, then everything will be OK.

Construction was really fast and easy. Everything went together with no sanding or fitting. Be aware that the kit contains exactly what the description lists. You'll need to supply the shock cord, eye bolt, parachute and motor retainer. No big deal, at least you know that going in. Can't wait till spring to try it. RockSim says about 700' on a D, up to over 4000' on a big G. Should be fun.

I bought this kit just prior to Madcow taking over the Rocketry Warehouse line. I say this because my kit arrived with the fin slots not equally spaced around the periphery of the airframe. The dilemma was do I build it with fins perpendicular the the airframe or equidistant from tip to tip? I opted for the latter and this bird flies absolutely straight and true with no spin which was a pleasant surprise. Note you will need to add some nose weight to get make this bird stable. I used 3 Ozs.
This is a really solid, cute rocket. I would have given it 5 stars had the fin slots been placed correctly.
